Congratulations on your employment with Wake Forest, a place of rich community, Pro Humanitate, and Demon Deacon spirit. As you prepare to join the University community, we hope you’ll explore the information contained below.

Before Day 1

Before joining us on campus, all faculty, staff and non-student temporary employees must complete the following:

Student employees should visit studentemployment.wfu.edu for more information on the student employment process.

Pre-Employment Screenings

Employment at the University is contingent upon satisfactory completion of pre-employment screenings, which may include criminal background checks, drug screenings, driving record checks and/or financial credit checks as applicable. If you have received an email from our pre-employment screening vendor, please submit the requested information. You may contact askHR@wfu.edu for assistance with this process, as needed.

Workday and WFU Google Mail

Workday is the University’s system of record for Human Resources, Finance, Payroll, and Academic needs. You will have the opportunity to access the system prior to your start date and complete onboarding information. You will be notified via personal email by our Information Systems team to claim your WFU email address and Google account. These credentials provide you with single sign-on access to many internal systems, including Workday. Please login promptly to complete your available onboarding tasks, available to you in your Inbox, which can be found in the top right corner of your screen. Your initial tasks will include Personal Information and Contact Information. Additional tasks such as tax withholding forms, benefit elections (if applicable), direct deposit set up, and more will also populate here on your first day of employment.

Complete Your Form I-9

Section 1 – Available to you in Workday

If you are joining the Wake Forest community for the first time, or rejoining after an extended period of time, you will be required to complete the Federal Form I-9 and e-Verify process. After completing the following tasks: contact change, edit government IDs, and enter personal information, please refresh your Workday inbox and, if required, your Form I-9 will be generated in your Workday Inbox.

Section 2 – Documentation Verification

The final step in the Form I-9 Process is to meet with Human Resources. You have the option to meet with us virtually or in-person no later than the third business day following your first day of employment.

If you choose to meet with us virtually, please:

  • Email copies of your original and unexpired supporting documentation to hrchange@wfu.edu
  • An HR Representative will review and approve your documents and send you further instructions for scheduling your virtual appointment.
  • During your appointment, you will need to have access to a computer or mobile device with a camera, and have available the same documentation that you submitted via email for the HR Representative to view.
  • Virtual appointments are available Monday through Friday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. and last approximately 15 minutes.

If you prefer, in-person documentation verification is available in the I-9 Office which is located in Reynolda Hall, Room 306, and is open on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 9 a.m. to Noon and Tuesday and Thursday from 1 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Please note the documentation verification step must be completed within 3 business days of your hire date regardless of the modality you choose.
