Celebrating the People Who Make Wake Forest Flourish

Human Resources is excited to announce the establishment of the Wake Forest University President’s Awards for Excellence, a new institutional program created to recognize the extraordinary contributions, dedication, and impact of staff and faculty.
Rooted in a shared commitment to the University’s values, these annual awards will celebrate those whose work champions collaboration and drives meaningful change across WFU. Reflecting a unified vision for campus recognition, the program will be guided through a partnership between the Office of the President, the Staff Advisory Council, the Faculty Senate, and Human Resources.
“Our faculty and staff bring Wake Forest’s mission to life every day through their commitment to campus and to one another. So much of their amazing work that drives us forward happens without expectation of praise. These awards are a wonderful tribute to that spirit and a celebratory way to say thank you,” says Dr. Malika Roman Isler, Associate Vice President for Employee Experience in HR.
The program features four distinct categories designed to capture the many ways community members contribute their talents:
- The President’s Award for Excellence in Leadership and Mentorship: Honors exceptional guidance, encouragement, and a steadfast commitment to empowering others.
- The President’s Award for Excellence in Collaboration and Teamwork: Celebrates individuals who build strong connections, bridge disciplines, and foster a spirit of unity across campus.
- The President’s Award for Excellence in Innovation and Impact: Recognizes creative problem-solving and forward-thinking initiatives that meaningfully advance the University’s mission.
- The President’s Award for Excellence in Workplace Recognition: Acknowledges a team that champions inclusivity, mutual respect, and a welcoming environment for all.
“One of my greatest joys of working at Wake Forest is being surrounded by people who care so deeply,” says Dr. Mary Lucal, Vice President and Chief Human Resources Officer. “By celebrating the individuals and teams who inspire positive change, these awards highlight the heart and collective talent that define our university. I look forward to coming together to uplift and celebrate their lasting work.”
Applications and nominations for all categories are now open on the President’s Awards for Excellence webpage. Faculty and staff are encouraged to visit the webpage to learn more about the awards, criteria, eligibility, and submission process. Submissions are due Dec. 2, 2026.
