Nominations Open for Leading Effectively Across the Forest
“One of the biggest impacts of the program was that it gave me the tools and resources to articulate my strengths as a leader, and that clarity allowed me to be more intentional and strategic in how I approach my daily work…It was an incredibly valuable experience that I would highly recommend to others.” — Christopher M. Zaluski, Program Director, Documentary Film Program, and Co-Director, Wake the Arts

The Human Resources Learning and Development team is accepting nominations for the 2026-27 Leading Effectively Across the Forest (LEAF) program. This biennial, in-person leadership development initiative promotes personal awareness and fosters critical leadership strategies. Individuals may self-nominate or be nominated by a divisional or department leader.
Nominations, which are due by 12 p.m. (EST) on March 6, can be submitted through this form.
LEAF builds upon past programs to develop a curriculum for campus leaders to enhance skills through immersion in regular workshops, opportunities to learn from leaders across campus, and regular reflection in the company of like-minded peers.
Nominees will be either:
- Full-time faculty at the rank of associate and above serving or preparing to serve in leadership roles (i.e., Chair positions) who have been employed at WFU for at least 3 years as of July 1, 2026.
- Administrative staff at the director level and above who have been employed at WFU for at least 3 years as of July 1, 2026.
Once nominated, candidates will be formally invited to apply. Participants will be asked to commit to attending all scheduled program sessions, including a kick-off luncheon in August and all program sessions, which take place one full day per month from September 2026 through April 2027.
