Dear Managers,

As was communicated earlier, a fire northeast of the Wake Forest University Reynolda campus Monday evening resulted in the evacuation of residents within a one-mile radius of 4440 N. Cherry Street. Due to this disruption, the university canceled all classes today, Tuesday, Feb. 1.

Managers with teams who are directly supporting evacuation-related response efforts and other essential campus operations should communicate to their teams the expectation to report to campus.

Faculty and staff who are not supporting the response efforts and are able to work remotely should do so today. Those who elect not to report to work for personal reasons should enter Paid Time Off (PTO) for this time in Workday.

Managers are encouraged to prioritize the safety and wellbeing of their team members and to communicate expectations clearly to their direct reports.

The Chaplain’s Emergency Fund is available to provide financial assistance for those temporarily displaced, if needed. Confidential support services are available for impacted colleagues by calling the Employee Assistance Program at (336) 716-5493.

If you have additional support needs or questions, please contact Human Resources by emailing askHR@wfu.edu.

Sincerely,
Wake Forest University Human Resources
