Previously, the IRS allowed unlimited carryover from 2021 into 2022 for both Health Care and Dependent Care FSA contributions due to the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic. However, unlimited carryover will not be allowed for 2022 into 2023.

The Health Care FSA maximum carryover limit from 2022 into 2023 is $570. Participants should be prepared to exhaust their full balance up to the maximum carryover amount by Dec. 31, 2022. There is no carryforward allowance for Dependent Care FSA, it must all be exhausted by Dec. 31, 2022. Participants have until March 31, 2023, to file claims that were incurred in 2022.
