Parking, traffic information about student move-in

Wake Forest will welcome a new first-year class on Wednesday, Aug. 18, and Thursday, Aug. 19, when new student move–in begins at 9 a.m. For faculty and staff scheduled to be on campus, the University has recommendations for where to enter campus and park.
On Aug. 18 and 19, the University asks that faculty and staff enter campus through the Polo Road or Reynolda Road entrances. New students and their families will use the University Parkway entrance after checking in at Lawrence Joel Veterans Memorial Coliseum.
Increased traffic is expected and will begin around 8:30 a.m. as families arrive. Faculty and staff seeking to park on campus are encouraged to arrive early. This year, the University will welcome new students into the South Campus and Hearn Plaza residences. Many of the Hearn Plaza parking lots (Lots B, N and the inner portion of Lot A) will not be available for faculty and staff parking. Additionally, the University asks that faculty and staff avoid parking on South Campus (Lots E, F, G and J) and in Lots Q and W1/W2 to allow parking for our new students and their families. Faculty and staff may park in the lots on either side of Long Drive, near Winston-Salem First Church and Polo Road. The University will operate an on-call service to and from those lots on Aug. 18 and 19 from 7:30 a.m. – 6 p.m. To request a ride, call 336-829-8238.
Additionally, the University will welcome back returning students Friday thru Sunday, August 20-22. Parking for faculty/staff in the Hearn Plaza lots (Lots A, B, C, M, N, P) will be limited due to move–in. Additionally, faculty and staff are encouraged to avoid Lots Q, R and Z to allow our returning students a smooth move–in.
For Friday, Aug. 20, additional parking for faculty and staff will be available in the lots on either side of Long Drive, near Winston-Salem First Church and Polo Road. To aid with traffic management, the University asks that departments instruct vendors to assist by not delivering to campus until after 2 p.m. on August 18 and 19; vendors are asked to park only in designated parking spaces and to remove their own trash from campus. Delivery vehicles larger than a box truck should not plan to enter campus on August 18 and 19 due to limited parking and increased traffic. Deliveries taking place on August 20 thru 22 should expect slower travel.
