The following message was sent to select faculty and staff.

Dear colleagues,

Thank You
Thank you for providing your vaccination status to the university. Your participation has helped us develop plans that prioritize the health and wellness of our campus community and a reconnection with students and colleagues this fall.

We have all put in immeasurable effort to make it to this point in our pandemic recovery. Whether you are working in and among faculty, staff, and students or are working in more remote settings on or off campus, you are an essential part of the success of our recovery efforts and we are grateful for the ways that you do your part each day to support the university’s mission.

Vaccination Success
As we move toward 100% participation in our campus vaccine survey, we are also approaching full vaccination status in several areas of campus. This will allow colleagues the freedom to work and connect without face coverings, if they choose. As importantly, this will protect the campus from the highly contagious variants that threaten to undermine all of the hard work we have put into getting to this stage of pandemic recovery.

Delta Variant on the Rise
The highly contagious Delta variant of COVID-19 is on the rise across North Carolina. This variant can spread very quickly among unvaccinated individuals, potentially triggering outbreaks. More vaccinated people on campus means fewer potential outbreaks. When you get vaccinated, you’re doing your part to keep unvaccinated friends, colleagues, neighbors, children – the most vulnerable among us – safe.

Find Your Spot
In the vaccine survey, you expressed a willingness to get vaccinated when the time was right. When you are ready, the easiest way to find a vaccine provider near you is by visiting myspot.nc.gov. The COVID-19 vaccine is free for everyone – with or without insurance – and many local pharmacies offer same-day appointments and walk-ins. Staff members may schedule their appointment during working hours, and should inform their supervisor of time away from work for this appointment. After you’ve received your first dose, email Human Resources at askHR@wfu.edu for help updating your vaccination status with the university.

If you have questions about the safety or merits of the vaccines, please talk with your doctor or a medical professional whom you trust. There are also many sources of up-to-date information, like the Centers for Disease Control

A Month to Go
With less than a month to go until the first day of undergraduate classes, we want to reiterate our gratitude for the care and attention each of you has put into our efforts to weather the pandemic. As you know, we will continue to enforce the university’s face covering policy and will soon introduce regular asymptomatic testing of all individuals who are not approved to be unmasked in the workplace, including employees still in remote work arrangements. We will continue to share the details of these requirements with you and your supervisor in the coming weeks.

Thank you for your continued dedication to the health and wellness of our campus community.

Sincerely,
Wake Forest University Human Resources
