The university offers three individual insurance policies through Aflac which are designed to supplement the major medical health insurance plan through Wake Forest University.
The Aflac plans may help pay:
- additional out-of-pocket medical expenses including deductible and co-pays
- loss of income if the healthy spouse must leave work to care for the recuperating partner
- incident-related costs such as travel expenses to and from medical centers, childcare and extra household help
- everyday living expenses including mortgage, rent, groceries and utility bills
The three plans offered through Aflac are:
Accident Plan
Benefits are payable for a covered person’s death, dismemberment, or injury caused by a covered accident that occurs on or off the job.
Specified Health Event
Pays a first-occurrence benefit, hospital confinement and continuing care befits for heart attack, coronary artery bypass surgery, stroke, end-stage renal failure, major human organ transplant, coma, paralysis and third degree burns.
Cancer Plan
Defrays the cost expenses not covered by major medical including deductibles, out-of-network specialists, experimental cancer treatment and ambulance, transportation and lodging benefits.
