Voluntary Accidental Death & Dismemberment (AD&D) Plan

Students walking near Tribble HallVoluntary Accidental Death and Dismemberment (AD&D) offers additional accidental death and dismemberment coverage for Faculty and Staff and their family. This plan pays a benefit based upon a schedule of benefits in the event of accidental death, dismemberment, or permanent total disability as the result of an accident.

One can elect up to 10 times annual salary to a maximum of $500,000, in increments of $10,000. A Medical History Statement is not required for this coverage.

This is a voluntary, employee paid program and is paid through payroll deduction. Active full-time faculty and staff members are eligible to participate. This coverage terminates at retirement or termination of employment. However, coverage may be converted to an individual policy if requested within thirty-one (31) days of employment end date.

  • If the family consists of spouse/same sex domestic partner only, the spouse/partner is covered at 60% of the Faculty/ Staff member’s elected coverage amount to a maximum of $300,000.
  • If the family consists of child(ren) only, the child(ren) are covered at 20% of the Faculty/Staff member’s elected coverage amount for each child to a maximum of $25,000 for each child.
  • If the family consists of spouse/same sex domestic partner & child(ren), spouse/partner is covered at 50% of the Faculty/Staff member’s elected coverage amount to a maximum of $250,000 and the children are covered at 15% of the Faculty/Staff member’s elected coverage amount to a maximum of $25,000 for each child.
